What a price-gap report tells you
An illustrative comparison between two invented stores: Northstar Supply (your store) and Ridge & River (competitor). Every product, price, identifier and match below is fabricated. No stores were scraped to create this example.

Positive gap = your price is higher. Percentage uses the competitor price as the denominator. On a small screen, scroll the table horizontally.

Read one row, not just the headline
The flask is USD 30 at your store and USD 25 at the competitor: a USD 5 gap. Divide 5 by 25 and multiply by 100 to get +20%. The light is USD 5 cheaper at your store, a −10% gap against the competitor's USD 50.
Two products are above, two below and one equal. That does not imply either store is cheaper overall: a count gives each product equal weight, regardless of demand, margin or sales volume.
What this example leaves out
This is a five-row teaching dataset, not a catalog coverage measurement or an export from a customer account. It has no observation timestamps because the prices were invented, not fetched.
Real comparisons need source links, freshness checks and matching evidence. Tax, shipping, availability, bundles, currency and variant differences can all change what a shopper actually pays.
A gap is a question to investigate
- Verify the same model, size, pack quantity and variant. A similar title is not enough.
- Open both product pages and check when the prices were observed. Do not compare stale prices with current promotions.
- Consider costs, margin, delivery and positioning before deciding whether any action is warranted.
This report is not a repricing recommendation. It does not change prices, predict profit or recommend automated price matching.
