Connect Gemini CLI to Tensorbasis

Use the documented remote HTTP configuration in a Gemini CLI installation that supports MCP.

No Tensorbasis CLI, local server or installation required for HTTP clients.

Setup

  1. Check your installed client and its current documentation first. This guide concerns Gemini CLI MCP configuration, not the Gemini browser chat application.
  2. In your private Gemini CLI settings.json, merge the mcpServers entry below with any existing servers rather than replacing the file.
  3. The example uses a limited Tensorbasis API key supplied through an environment variable. Set it securely in the client environment; do not paste the key into a conversation or shared repository.
  4. Inspect the client's MCP status and available tools. Start with an account summary and verify the returned account is yours.

Merge with your existing settings. Examples contain no real credentials.

Compatibility and transport

The official Gemini CLI site currently carries a transition notice for some user tiers. Check which client your account uses; do not assume this configuration transfers to a successor or to gemini.google.com. OAuth support and settings vary by client version; the key example is not evidence of a completed Tensorbasis interoperability test.

Configuration guidance is based on the official documentation linked below, reviewed 31 October 2026. Tensorbasis has not completed an end-to-end verification in this client. Client versions, account eligibility and organization policies can change the available setup.

If it does not connect

  • Check that the URL ends in /api/mcp and the transport is HTTP, not stdio or a legacy SSE-only URL.
  • Check sign-in or the bearer key, its scopes and expiry. Never send a key to support in a screenshot.
  • If OAuth is not available in your deployed server/client pair, use the documented key fallback where headers are supported. Do not invent a callback URL or assume a browser connector can accept a local command.
  • A visible tool list is only discovery. Verify a read-only result from your account before requesting any action.
